COMFORLD is a filterless air purifier that does not require filter replacement.
COMFORLD is characterized by its ability to remove viruses and chemical substances through the triple effect of ultraviolet rays, ozone, and negative ions, without the use of filters.
While filters in general filter-type air purifiers deteriorate during use and need to be replaced every certain period of time, Cam Fold is a filterless air purifier, so it does not require filter replacement.
Maintenance is also performed simply by replacing the replacement unit, with no need to wash or clean the filter, and the maintenance cycle is longer than that of filter-type air purifiers.
In addition, there is an ozone emission mode that can sterilize the entire room, making it a two-in-one appliance.
Features of Filterless Air Purifiers
Filterless air purifiers, unlike conventional filter-type air purifiers, purify the air without the use of filters.
Since they do not use filters, they save the time and expense of filter replacement. Also, there is no decrease in effectiveness due to clogged filters or bad odors caused by the growth of bacteria.
It is hard to believe that air can be cleaned without using filters, isn’t it?
Filterless air purifiers mainly use ion technology and photocatalysis to effectively remove airborne pollutants such as pollen, house dust, bacteria, and viruses.
COMFORLD uses the triple effect of UV + ozone + negative ions to remove viruses, chemicals, airborne dust, PM2.5, pollen, and more.
Disadvantages of filter-type air purifiers
The HEPA filter used in a typical filter-type air purifier is a very high-performance filter.
It is capable of collecting more than 99.97% of particles 0.3 μm in size, which is invisible to the human eye, and can handle not only indoor dust and dirt, but also pollen and sneeze droplets.
However, general HEPA filters are susceptible to moisture, which can cause bacteria and mold to grow, and if not replaced regularly, bacteria and mold can multiply inside the filter and cause foul odors.
In addition, HEPA filters simply collect airborne particles and viruses and are not capable of sterilizing or disinfecting viruses.
It also cannot remove harmful substances (such as carbon monoxide) contained in chemicals or cigarettes.
HEPA filter cannot capture all viruses
Filter-type air purifiers also have the disadvantage of not capturing all viruses with the filter.
The size of particles that can be captured by a typical HEPA filter is 0.3 µm according to JIS standards, but viruses are even smaller at around 0.1 µm, so a HEPA filter cannot capture all viruses.
Viruses captured by the filter will remain unless they are inactivated.
According to the peer-reviewed medical journal “The Lancet,” viruses can remain in wood and cloth for up to 48 hours and in plastic and stainless steel for up to 72 hours.
The Lancet, an international peer-reviewed medical journal, states that viruses can remain in wood and cloth for up to 48 hours and in plastic and stainless steel for up to 72 hours.
Filters alone are not sufficient to reliably eliminate viruses.
